Chief Hanner Releases Information

Brownstown Chief of Police Tom Hanner releases the following information.

September 27, 2016 at 10:05AM

The Brownstown Police Department was dispatched to a 9-1-1 report of a possible dead body at the Brownstown Elementary School. Upon arrival at the school, Brownstown Police located a deceased Caucasian male on the west side of the building.

The scene was secured and the school was placed on “Soft” lockdown. At no time was there an immediate threat to school staff or student population. The Brownstown Police Department is working closely with the Jackson County Coroner’s Office to determine the cause of death. The investigation is ongoing.

Brownstown P.D. was assisted at the scene by Jackson County EMS, Brownstown Volunteer Fire Department, Jackson County Emergency management, Brownstown Community School Corporation, and Jackson County Sheriff’s Department.
