Grassy Fork Man Injured in Tractor Accident

Jackson County Deputies were dispatched to the 4400 block South of County Road 400 East on Monday morning around 9:13 AM to investigate a farming accident.

Deputy Adam Nicholson was the first to arrive and found that Kevin A. Hackman had been run over by a farm tractor. It was learned the accident occurred as Hackman attempted to start the tractor while standing on the ground, and the tractor took off when it started.

Brian Elliott, a friend of Hackman's found Hackman in the yard and called 9-1-1.

Hackman complained of leg and chest pain. Elliott stated the tractor was still running when he arrived, and that it had run into the house.

Elliott said he shut the tractor down and began attending to Hackman until emergency personal arrived. Deputy Rob Henley and Jackson County EMS arrived and started giving medical treatment to Hackman.

Hackman was then transported to the helicopter pad outside Schneck Medical Center in Seymour and was then flown to Methodist Hospital.
