Wanted Man Captured after Chase

   Michael A. Romero

On February 28th 2017 around midnight Jackson County Reserve Deputy Kevin Settle was on routine patrol when he got behind a white Pontiac in the area of Burkhart Blvd. When the Pontiac made a sudden turn onto Bateman Drive and sped up, Settle became suspicious and followed it.

The Pontiac entered a parking lot, then left the same way it came in. Settle activated his emergency lights and attempted a traffic stop as the white Pontiac took off at a high rate of speed. Settle continued to pursue the Pontiac on Fourth Street Road, to Bateman Drive, to Killion Avenue, and then to Hartsell Drive where it spun out of control and crashed into a ditch.

Settle then captured 28 year old Michael A. Romero who was wanted on a Jackson County Warrant for Failure to Appear. Settle is also requesting charges of Resisting Law Enforcement with a vehicle, Resisting Law Enforcement, and Driving while Suspended.

Seymour Police Department and Jackson County Deputies Clint Burcham and Jesse Hutchinson assisted.
