       Jaron Mullins

CROTHERSVILLE POLICE DEPARTMENT

February 16, 2017

On February 16th, 2017 at approximately 3:30pm, the Crothersville Police

Department received a report of three individuals attempting to steal items from

Wischmeier Trucking in the 9000 block of East County Road 600 South.

This was the second report of the day, where these individuals were attempting

to steal items. The suspects fled the scene prior to Crothersville Chief Brent Turner's

arrival.

Crothersville Police Captain J.L. McElfresh and Chief Turner responded to

the location on the second report. Upon their arrival, one male suspect was seen

fleeing into a wooded area north of Wischmeier Trucking. Crothersville officers

requested assistance from the Jackson County Sheriff's Department and the

Indiana State Police in an attempt to locate the suspects. A vehicle description

was obtained and Jackson County Sheriff's Deputies Rob Henley, Dustin Steward,

and Reserve Deputy Brad Barker were able to stop a vehicle matching the

description. The driver of that vehicle, Robert Northern of Austin, IN was

found to have an active warrant out of Scott County for Burglary.

With the assistance of Crothersville Officer Matt Browning, Jackson

County Sheriff Deputy Rick Meyer, Jackson County Reserve Deputy Steve Murphy,

Indiana State Troopers Tia Deaton and Michael Thiron, an extensive search was

conducted for the other two suspects. Jackson County Sheriff's Department

Detective Tom Barker also responded and assisted with the investigation at the

scene.

At approximately 6:30pm, Crothersville officers received another report of a

suspicious male in the area of 5100 South County Road 1000 East. Crothersville.

Officers responded to that call and located a male subject that matched the

description of one of the suspects. After further investigation, Captain McElfresh

arrested Jaron Mullins of Austin, IN for Burglary (Level 5 Felony), Theft (Level 6

Felony), Possession of Methamphetamine (Level 6 Felony), and Possession of a

Controlled Substance (Class A Misdemeanor).

Robert Northern was also arrested for Burglary (Level 5 Felony) and Theft

(Level 6 Felony) for the incident at Wischmeier Trucking. The vehicle Robert

Northern was driving was towed by Howard's Wrecker Service. The investigation

is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
